Social Security Disability Insurance / Supplemental Security Income ( SSDI / SSI )

The Social Security Administration ( SSA ) has a vested interest in providing a work incentive program for disability recipients and beneficiaries. The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services has formed a partnership with the SSA to assist SSA recipients in becoming employed. This partnership involves the Work Incentives Partnership Assistance Grant from the Social Security Administration.

Through community work incentives coordinators statewide, information is disseminated to SSDI/SSI beneficiaries to allow them to make informed decisions regarding issues related to returning to work and how employment may affect their current and future benefit status. This information provides increased opportunity for the SSA beneficiaries to take advantage of available work incentives and other benefits available. This project is considered vital to the welfare of the recipient by providing accurate information that applies to his or her own personal situation and benefit status.
