Blind and Deaf Services
The Blind/Deaf Section provides assistance through its Blind Services, Deaf
Services, and
OASIS
(Older Alabamians System of Information and Services) programs. In
FY
2007, counselors in this section guided 1,099 individuals with significant
visual and hearing impairments into employment and assisted 1,244
individuals with age-related vision loss in regaining their independence,
allowing them to remain in their own homes.
